Designed by the architects Hyndman & Bates in 1889 for Judge Arthur Chomley, this timber house was sold to Jack Manton in 1956. Jack Manton was a leading art entrepreneur and he added a large picture gallery in 1979 to hang his collection, which included 68 paintings from the Heidelberg School.
